The Defiance Pilot was silly, but the last two episodes had great potential. Now that it has a second season maybe they'll tighten up the writing a bit.

Defiance hasn't been bad, but it definitely didn't have the impact of a BSG or farscape

BSG had a really amazing start, I'll give you that, and they had really quality writers. I always felt Farscape took a while to take off, and I'm willing to give Defiance that chance too.
