My 8 year old alarm clock gave up the ghost at 8:09 PM PDT last night

Sort of gave up the ghost.

It got to 8:09 and stopped doing anything at all. It's just been sitting there at 8:09, with a bright backlit display. It's a digital clock. It's kind of creepy because I can't do anything at all to get it to respond, and if I unplug it and plug it back in, it goes back to a backlit 8:09.
