Dragon Age 3
Apparently EA opened up their offices in LA to let some media play DA3, so lots of new gameplay videos have come out over the last week:
https://www.youtube.com/results?filt...play&lclk=week Only watched a couple so far, but it's looking good. Already scheduled time off for that week (well, Weds-Fri) and the first week of Dec for SWTOR. BioWare is saying ~150 hours of gameplay for DA3, so I'm hoping I can finish a mostly thorough play-through before the SWTOR early-access release in Dec. |
Very cool. Been itching for a deep RPG experience. Hope it delivers

Just looked at the recommended system requirements for DA3:
Quad core @ 3.0 GHz (Six core @3.2 for AMD) 8 GB mem GeForce GTX 660 w/ 2GB mem 26GB disk space I'm currently running quad-core 2.6 GHz CPU (i7 920), 12 GB mem, GTX 580 w/ 1.5GB mem. Granted, I built this machine almost 5 years ago now, but damn. Considering I want to play DA3 on ultra graphics settings I guess I'll need to do some upgrading in the next few weeks. I was surprised to see the quad-core CPU requirement. Didn't think most games were very multi-core friendly these days. Anyone have any thoughts on 6-core vs 4-core for gaming? Looks like clock speeds go up to 4 GHZ on the quad cores (~$350), and 3.5 GHz for the hex cores (~$600, $400 for 3.3 GHz). |

Seems to primarily be an issue of "Future-proofing". If you can afford the 6-core, go for it. Probably saves you money in the end.
