The performance gains outweigh the risk of losing data. You're going to have risks with any hard drive, mechanical or NAND based flash drives.

Honestly if you're keeping important data on any drive without backups you're going to regret it down the road. With that said, I can't imagine you're going to keep anything other than the OS and a few games on the SSD, which aren't the end of the world if you lose them to failure.

The solid states these days are pretty durable granted you buy one that isn't a cheap piece of shit with bad firmware. If you can afford it, try to find a newer (<6 month old model) SLC SSD.
