I'm sure there's tons I don't know. But what is becoming very evident is that you have to pay (a lot) to get anything remotely good. And what's even the goal of the game? Once you assemble an amazing group of monsters, what then? You just dive into deeper and deeper dungeons, and if/when you die, you have to pay to continue just so you don't lose the gold/eggs you've acquired in the run. It's a giant money sink with nothing meaningful to show for it. You can't even pvp to show off your amazing monsters. What am I missing?

Vanderhoff: Zantar is a gelatinous cube that eats warriors in a village. If you eat a chieftain, you go up a level. Beauty is, you can't get to the next level, kids keep coughing up quarters.
